Current Events

On June 17, 2006 Saturn will conjunct Mars at 8 Leo. The conjunction will be opposed by Chiron, retrograde at 9 Aquarius and squared by Jupiter, retrograde at 9 Scorpio. This forms a T-square in the sky.

Saturn conjunct Mars generally means determination. Placed in Leo, it is determined to act. Saturn in Leo is meant to re-define Leo–literally to redefine heritage from our physical DNA to our spiritual heritage. We are all offspring of Mother Earth and Father God. However, we have become accustomed to thinking of heritage in purely physical terms. Saturn transiting Leo shows that now is the time to re-define it in spiritual terms. Leo is a sign of action and Mars emphasizes this dramatically. Expect events (even emotional explosions) designed to call our attention to our higher attributes.

Chiron opposes this from its retrograde condition, encouraging us to remember our Aquarian side–the part of us that is more than human–literally the higher self. Chiron has the capacity to lift up whatever it aspects. Being in opposition, this may be experienced as coming from outside ourselves, may even feel forced, tempting us to rebel, but it is not a good idea. Let go and let God/dess, when another or others act as a catalyst for what is essentially a healing process in your life.

(This does not mean that their criticisms are right. This is just about getting you to see how very good you really are)

Jupiter squares the opposition from a retrograde condition, further encouraging us. Jupiter is enthusiastic and in Scorpio quite powerful. This placement suggests the remembrance of some powerful wisdom learned in a past life, and temporarily forgotten.

It is nearly impossible for any Jupiter aspect to be negative. A square to an opposition tends to pull attention away from the opposition, to the squaring planet. Chances are, the event(s) signified by the opposition will need to be figured out (a function of Jupiter), because it involves some secret motives and/or a suppressed memory.

This is like a chance to retrieve a painful memory from our early years, one that was painful because we did not have the tools to process it. Current events may reflect the original event, giving us an opportunity to process it with the tools of adulthood–or in this event, to retrieve the spiritual knowledge–possibly by inspiration–with which to turn growing pains into real personal and/or spiritual growth.

For the main population, these effects may be experience quite impersonally–perhaps by events that show up on the news. For individuals with planets or significant points (approximately) between 4-12 degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) the effect will be much more profound. This transiting aspect is designed to play a positive transformative role in our lives, one that will have its focus on the areas of our personal charts which are affected.
