The Mutual Reception of Uranus and Neptune

Currently, Uranus is transiting Neptune’s sign Pisces, while Neptune is transiting Uranus’ sign, Aquarius. The two planets are in mutual reception, with an effect similar to a conjunction. This event is strongly related to the rise in the general consciousness, with particular emphasis on those who have planets or significant points that are being transited by either planet.
Uranus and Neptune began cooperating in December 1981 when Uranus entered Sagittarius, while Neptune was still in residence there. There was some lessening around 1984 as Neptune entered Capricorn some months before Uranus followed. Still Uranus pursued Neptune until it caught up, made conjunction, and finally crossed in February 1992. Uranus entered Aquarius in 1996, followed by Neptune in 1998, and they journeyed together again until Uranus entered Pisces in 2004. This placed the two in mutual reception, re-emphasizing the partnership implied by sharing a sign and especially by the earlier conjunction.

These two have an efficient way of lifting consciousness, based on the fact that consciousness is creative. Human focus is a creative force. Outline a desire, even a hope or wish, and it will be created, sooner or later, depending on repetition or intensity, either of which compound energy into form. Because of this, increasingly, our beliefs prove themselves–not because they were always true, but because we believed in them.
Wherever Uranus transits, changes come, often with apparent suddenness. However, if you examine these changes after the fact, you will see that they are things that have been in the works–in the form of a hope or wish, or sometimes a worry. What happens is that this hope, wish, or worry accumulated enough energy/attention to become solid/manifest.
Uranus transits, especially the conjunctions, squares and oppositions, usually bring life-changing events and they get our attention. While we are focused on them, while we are adjusting to them, our attention is taken off another area.
This is Neptune’s realm, for with Neptune transits, something gets forgotten, it fades out of conscious awareness. And if this condition lasts, something simply dissolves, disappears, goes up in smoke. However, you may be certain that Neptune will take away nothing that you have further need for. The Neptune function is related to the fade-out that occurs when something becomes obsolete. It helps to remove mental, emotional, and sometimes physical clutter.
Another common effect of Neptune transits is the experience of fatigue, especially sleepiness. That is simply a reminder that, even if changes are positive, they are stressful, and you will need some extra rest. Let Neptune lead here, trusting that you will get things done in their proper time.
Interestingly, Uranus may make you wakeful. At this time, many are noticing disrupted sleep patterns. Sometimes we need extra sleep, other times less sleep. They key to dealing with this is to let it happen as it will. In so far as possible, get extra sleep as needed. If you have a night when you cannot sleep, get up. Read, watch TV or do what is on your mind. Let your body tell you what you need, realizing that needs fluctuate and change. When consciousness is on the move, old rules go and new ones replace them. During the change, almost anything goes, so go with it.
When the two combine, Neptune removes hindrances and limitations to the changes we are making in our lives with the help of Uranus. They are, then, a great team to have working for us during periods of personal and spiritual growth.
For the past twenty or more years, they have been impulsing the general rise of consciousness which is preparation for the incoming Age of Aquarius. Time seems to have speeded up. Some say it really is running faster. Perhaps. Or perhaps it is just that, having resisted evolutionary changes for so long, humankind has finally realized that it is past time to get with it.
In any event, it is an exciting time. For some it is painful, but pain is a product of resistance. Do you remember Star Trek: the Next Generation, and the Borg? The human species has now reached a point where “resistance is futile.” However, in these changes we will not become machine-like. Instead, we are moving into the Divine portion of our heritage. We are becoming more than man. Some of us are a bit ahead of the masses, but the masses are on their way, for the world is being lifted up to a higher vibration, and we are the means by which that is accomplished. It is written in the stars.
